J.S. Buchanan French Immersion
2025-2026 Safe and Inclusive School Plan
Our school is committed to providing all students with a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment free from bullying and harassment that promotes respect, acceptance, and empathy.
Staff, students, parents and caregivers, and community partners will work together as a team to help make our school safe and welcoming for everyone.
The Safe and Inclusive School Plan highlights some of the key actions that our school community will put in place as part of our bullying prevention and intervention efforts.
Key Priorities and Goals
This year we are focusing on helping students understand how to resolve conflicts in a positive way.
We are doing this because minor student conflicts often escalate to bigger issues based on how students react and interact with each other.
Key Actions or Strategies
Throughout the year we will:
- Explicitly teach conflict resolution skills (Peer Power)
- Use restorative practices to help students build and repair fractured relationships and build empathy towards others
- Continue to share positive messages of caring and kindness through inclusivity club initiatives
Community and Home Connections
Ask your child about one thing they did today to make a positive impact.
Try role playing conflict resolution (ignoring or talking it out) at home with your child.
